The Butler County Sheriff’s Office doubled its work force when two deputies graduated from Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice training.
New deputies Josh R. Amos and David H. West provide the agency with four deputies after starting work today, Sheriff Joe Gaddie said. The department spent most of 2007 with only one deputy. The two men graduated Friday.
“When I took over, I kept three deputies who were employed by (former sheriff) Kenneth Morris, but for one reason or another, all three resigned,” Gaddie said. “This left us with one deputy and myself who ran ourselves ragged.”
Late last year, Gaddie hired a second deputy who was already certified and did not need training, he said.
“With four deputies, we feel like we’re in pretty good shape going into 2008,” Gaddie said...
